Using the Toolbar (edit Mode)

When the Edit Mode check box has been checked.  An edit menu is presented on the content page

 

 

These buttons will allow a user to enter and format rich text format documents for each performance entry.  The buttons perform the following functions:

 

Clear All Button

This button clears all text in the document window

Auto Paste  Button

Pastes the contents of the clipboard, the contents are changed to the default font and colours. Any chord lines that follow SD’s chord line rules will be automatically formatted to the default chord colour, and associated text will be changed to the default text colour.

Import Button

Opens up a file open dialogue box where you can import text from an existing text file, or RTF Files.  If a PDF or XML file is selected StageDirector will automatically insert the file into the database

Save Button

Saves the current page.

Left Justify Button

Left justifies the highlighted text or the line of the cursor position.

Centre Justify Button

Centre justifies the highlighted text or the line of the cursor position.

Right Justify Button

Right justifies the highlighted text or the line of the cursor position.

Indent Button – indents highlighted body of text.

Unindent Button

Unindents highlighted body of text.

Undo Changes Button

Undoes changes since the last edit.

Set Back colour Button

Sets the back colour of the lyrics and chords page.

New Tab Button

This function adds a new page to the current song. This allows for the performers to see different views of the same performance piece in RTF format. For example this enables an orchestra to view different views of the same performance piece. Or alternativey, for a band it means you can see Chords and Lyrics or Chords only or Lyrics only, or music notation (for brass players for example).

Add/Import existing document Button

This function creates a new tab and will insert the external document. File formats supported are MusicXML, PDF, AVI, JPG, BMP, GIF files. This means one tab can contain lyrics in RTF format, another contain Chords Another contain the musical notation for the Brass section using MusicXML.  Another output can be used as a stage background display using an AVI format, show video etc.  StageDirector does not provide editors for the external file formats.

Delete Tab Button

Deletes the selected document

Font Buttons

Formats selected text into the Font and Size

Copy Button

Copy Selected text

Paste Button

Pastes Clipboard at the cursor position

Enlarge Font button

Enlarges selected text if a selection has been made or if there is no selection will enlarge the whole document.  Note that Font sizes can be –ve or +ve in size.  If the font size is negative this will actually make the font smaller,  so if this is what you want to do, you could also use the reduce font size button.

Reduce Font Size Button

Reduces selected text  size if a selection has been made or if there is no selection will reduce the whole document.  Note that Font sizes can be –ve or +ve in size.  If the font size is negative this will actually make the font larger,  therefore you could also use the the enlarge font size button in this situation.

Bold Font Button

Applies a bold format to selected text.

Italic Font Button

Applies Italics to selected text.

Underline Font Button

Applies an underline to selected text.

Change Text colour Button

Each button has a colour associated with it.  If text is selected the selected text colour will be changed on a press of these buttons.  If a cursor is on a line with nothing selected then the whole line is changed.
